Animal welfare is a cause close to our hearts so we are hugely enthusiastic (you might say we are full of unbridled excitement!) about creating a bespoke spirit to raise much-needed funds to support the fantastic work at World Horse Welfare.

It is the only charity that seeks to improve the lives of all equids (horses, ponies, donkeys and mules), whatever the nature of their relationship with humankind. World Horse Welfare’s vision is a world where suffering is stamped out and all these animals are treated with respect, compassion and understanding. For more information about their work click here.

And the gin itself? Unsurprisingly Unbridled Gin features horse-friendly apples!

We wanted the gin to celebrate the exhilarating experience of a good hack, so there are top notes of fresh cut grass and apples and heart notes of hay and sandalwood. We have created a spirit that captures the warmth of that special bond between horse and rider – and with £5.00 per bottle donated to World Horse Welfare it leaves you feeling a warm glow on two levels.

Botanicals: Apples and juniper.
Flavour profile: Lightly floral with a faint nose of apples. It is sweet on the nose but dry on the palate.
Suggested serve: Mix with tonic, lemonade or Appletiser. Garnish with a wedge of fresh green apple and slice of carrot!

A Word About the Persie Charity Collection
Persie Distillery launched its first charity gins in 2018 with Labrador Gin, Spaniel Gin and Dachshund Gin Liqueur, with each bottle sold raising funds for Scottish dog rescue charity PADS. Pusscat Vodka launched in 2020 as a fundraiser for Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home. Since 2022, we have chosen to release a new limited edition to our Charity Collection each year – available for 12 months and dedicated to a particular cause. This has featured Terrier Gin for Terrier SOS (2022), Whippet Gin for JR Whippet Rescue (2023), Unbridled Gin for World Horse Welfare (2024), and Golden Retriever Gin for Canine Partners (2025). During the year, each Charity Collection spirit has raised between £1,000 and £5,000 for the nominated charity.

– whippets whose owners are experiencing life changes incompatible with continuing to care for their dogs.
